Thought it might be nice to dedicate a single thread to tonight's 1st Round draft talk. Jump in with thoughts, reports and rumors. 

I think this year's draft will reflect the glaring losses that we suffered at the end of the season.  Both Raiders and steelers double, triple covered Bowe and stacked the line, causing a very predictable offense once we got behind.  Having a strong OT and/or a stud WR should be able to loosen the screws on this kind of scheme if used against us in the future.

Steelers | Unlikely to trade up for Mike Pouncey

The Pittsburgh Steelers likely will not try to trade up in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft to get University of Florida OL Mike Pouncey because it would cost them a lot to trade up to where he is projected to be drafted. Pouncey is believed to be selected the middle of the first round and the Steelers may have to give up their first three picks if they want to trade up for him. [KFFL]

Falcons | Looking to acquire top-seven pick

The Atlanta Falcons are talking with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers about the possibility of acquiring a top-seven pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. They are believed to be interested University of Goergia WR A.J. Green, University of Alabama WR Julio Jones and Louisiana State CB Patrick Peterson [KFFL]

Sources for these rumors sir? Also imagine Roddy White with Julio Jones. That would be insane. Cam Jordan at #9 would be a reach to be honest. You could let him slide a few more picks. Raiders looking for a CB means the end of Nnamdi probably.

Charlie Casserly just reported that the Chiefs r trying to move up to take Pouncey. I personally hate this move cause I just don't believe in taking a position that can be found in later rounds. And moving up & giving up picks!!! I hope this doesn't pan out!  [ARROWHEAD PRIDE]

Reportedly the Raiders have shown interest in two guys...QB Colin Kaepernick and CB Jimmy Smith.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports teams are well aware that Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith flunked three drug tests at Colorado, and he told at least one club that one of the three was for misusing codeine. Smith also told teams of his two alcohol-related violations, the pair of abortions that were paid for by parents of women he impregnated and an arrest for third-degree assault in a restaurant. "Two abortions, aggravated assault, two minors in possession, three failed drug tests...that's a little excessive," the personnel man said. [RedZone]

Green Bay is reportedly looking to move ahead of division-rival Chicago, which picks 29th, in order to beat the Bears to OT Gabe Carimi . [Great North Blue Draft Report]

Hmmmm???? I thought the Chiefs were taking Carimi at #21? Interesting...we might be in store for a busy night. Better order more Buffalo wings!!!!

If there is a run on QBs, the Chiefs could trade down and still get a very good value pick at the bottom of the 1st or even in the early part of the 2nd.

Panthers are so stupid. Why would they do that. Why would you draft a 1 year wonder with character problems and relies on running to be successful. It worked 1 time.
